Question for ex smokers with good few years booze free

Hi,

I am 5 months booze free and 7 years smoke free.

I never think of smoking again, or how nice it would be to have a fag.
Well at least not in a very long time, but its not the same for the juice.
I find myself thinking about it daily and maybe been able to drink again,
and how long will I go b4 I do try it again.

I'm in AA and loving the program.

So I would like to ask people with time,
does your attitude towards booze get with time the way my attitude is toward fags now?

I hope it does as I love my sober life, but do miss the other side if i'm totally honest.

Thanks in advance

7 years smoke free and coming up to 2 years alcohol free .

I don't miss either of them and find the thought of doing either again abhorrent .

Bestwishes, M

29 years alcohol free. 23 years smoke free. I smoked 2 1/2 packs a day for over 15 years. Compulshion to drink left me quicker than the compulsion to smoke did. 6 months in AA was a sort of landmark for me. Things started to really kick in after that. I'd say it took about a year before I had no deisre whatsoever to drink. Pretty sure the steps had a lot to do with that.

Your answer can be found in the 10th step promises starting "And we have ceased fighting.." Bottom of page 84. For me this came about after the first 8 steps were completed and I had begun step 9.

31 years sober and 25 or 26 years off tobacco. It took longer for the desire to smoke to be lifted - maybe a year or so after I stopped. Every now and then I get an urge to pick up a smoke, usually when I'm around it, but it passess quickly. I haven't had an urge to drink in decades.

Gotta love those 10th Step promises!

2 yeas 10 months booze free, on the 5th 1 year no fags. The urge to drink is practically nonexistent, but have recently had big cravings for a cigarette, though I ain't gonna do either.
