5 days sober today!!!
After last weekends binge and blackout, I knew I had to change, my wife has been telling me this for a long time. I let the alcohol convince me otherwise. I have a family, I am my sons role model how could I have been so stupid as to allow the alcohol to control my life. I know I wasn't pleasant to be around. I still to this day can't believe my wife has put up with me being in that state for so long. I have been on this site since I quit drinking and have read so many helpful post I thought I would join and I am glad I did. I feel like this has helped me "vent" a bit. Thanks for reading. I am so happy at 5 days I can't wait until a week, then 2 then a month. I am ready to start my new life.

Hey its great to hear your story and your determination reminds me of myself 5 months ago. I had been a binge drinker for 15 years and was so good at making excuses for my behaviour and convieniently 'forgetting' all the shameful things I did and people I upset. There comes a point where you just have to stop - and say enough is enough.
How exciting that you have come to this realisation.
This forum is a great place for advice. Things like PAWS and Addictive Voice are really worth researching in the early days.
