Feeling down!

So I'm new to this forum. A little about me. I'm sober alcoholic for 8 months now after a month in a rehab center. Married with two kids. Just been feeling down and out after losing our business-due to my illness. I carry a lot of blame for everything that has gone wrong in my life and the affects that I have had on the ones closest to me and even those I'm not close to. I just get caught in these ruts and it's a daily grind trying to get out of them. I know it's one day at a time, but it gets to me every now and then and it just happens to be now. Thank You for reading. AJ

Welcome to SR!
Are you in a recovery program for eg AA? Or any type of support group?
Its very hard; nearly impossible to get back to functioning state alone

Hi Joe,

Welcome to SR! I sure understand how you feel. I am newly sober and finding it is very depressing to realize that I have a huge financial hole to dig myself out of. Most of all, having to do it while you are in the vulnerable early stage of early sobriety seems like an impossible task.

Hang in there! Glad you found us.

Yeah go to aa groups haven't been in awhile-should probably check back and say hello. Its not that I don't like the people-sometimes the groups just get into that same old blah routine. You know what I mean. I am going through bankruptcy now-sucks but when its over it'll be good. One positive is all the money I don't spend on booze.

It took losing my job for me to realize that drinking was a problem for me. Even then I fought the idea for a couple of months. It's still tough and I haven't found work yet, but I know I will be much better prepared for a new job now that I am sober. Hang in there!

Hi AJ- I found at 8 months I was feelin pretty down too. I kept with it and have been slowly improving ever since. Nothing wrong with talking to your doctor about it also. Take care buddy.

Hi AJ -

Congrats on 8 months! Deep wounds take a while to heal.

Sure, things could be different. But that was the old you. What matters now is what you do going forward.

Agree 1newcreation - Tools like AA steps and/or counseling really help with the healing process.

It sounds like you need to get back there. Call your sponsor.

Maybe try some different meetings or get into some service work.

I have heard many make comments the same as you and they were on the edge of going back to drinking.
