Yesterday, I went on a trip to some hot springs, which was lovely. For a couple weeks, I had planned to go there after a trip to a wine festival, which I of course decided not to do as of Thursday. So, when I pulled up to the hot springs, on a remote desert road with no businesses or lights for literally 25 miles, just the sky, and cacti, and the dirt road going off to the spa... it was perfect to find that there was, of all things, a DUI checkpoint there. If my original plan had held, I'd have had a problem there. With my mouth hanging open, I chatted with the officer, stunned that I had nothing to be afraid of. I pulled up and enjoyed the afternoon, evening.

Today is the 5th day for me without alcohol. It's these little things. There are so many more. My body feels clear and good and my brain is getting there too. My heart... well, that's coming along. Happy Monday to all and for those in the US enjoy the holiday, if you have it off.
