I can do this..Day 1
I can do this..Day 1
So after stopping in here yesterday I decided I can do this. I want to do this. The closest AA meeting is over an hour away. However, I am in therapy. So I am hoping between SR, books, meditation and therapy I can do this. I told my husband do not bring alcohol home this weekend. Weekends are the toughest for me. So this will be the true test. I don't think I've gone more than 48 hours without a drink in well over a year. But, I am tired of this life, weight gain, self hatred and not being fully present in my life.
Anyone out there want to be an accountability partner? Not sure if there is an option for that here at SR?

Hi, Zenchild. Welcome to SR!
I'm glad you found this site - great place of support, understanding, and lots of useful information.
You can share your feeling, concerns and worries here - and you'll always find encouragement that will keep you going.
You may check in May class thread - a lot of accountability partners there)
Weekends are tough, but it will get better. For me now weekends are just weekends and have nothing to do with booze. Make a plan to keep yourself busy and distract your thought from drinking.
Take care and keep posting.

I know an hour seems like a long time but isn't your sobriety worth it? I carpooled 2.5 hours yesterday to hear my sponsor speak in Chicago. You don't have to go every day but any meetings is better than no meetings if you really want to give it a go. Just something to think about.
to SR! I got sober with the help of this site and my counselor. Between the two of them I've stayed sober over three years now. Sobriety is possible, meetings or no meetings. It depends on how much you want it.
Meditation has been a godsend to me. It's has helped me learn how to handle those intrusive and repetitive thoughts that plague me. I think it's wonderful that it's one of the tools you're using.
Hang in there, keep posting, and don't give up!
