one week ago tonight I was drunk
Last Monday night I was drunk and it was the last time I will ever be drunk.
I haven't formally introduced myself, but I have been lurking around on here for quite a while. I am a 34 yr old mom of 5, stepmom to 2, work full time, but somehow have managed to drink till I pass out almost nightly for the past 13 yrs. It's so scary to think back on it all. I mean, how did I do it? How did I not lose my job, my husband, my kids? It's pretty amazing yet sad how we alcoholics can pull off such things but at the same time many of us don't. I am lucky that I still have what I have before it was too late.
Yes, it has only been a week, and yes, I have quit many times before, but this time I'm done forever. I've been to AA and loved it actually....haven't been this time but I am definately going back. I heard one guy say in our meeting that he could tile a floor with the white chips (24 hr) he has collected over the years. But he started wanting different color chips and became sober going on 20 years.....so it CAN happen for those of us who keep quitting over and over.
Ok, done rambling on now. So happy to be a part of this group.

Thanks dollyangel. I saw that and I am amazed at all the moms who struggle just like me. I honestly used to think I was the only mom who drank like I did at night after the kids went to bed. If just seemed like all of the other moms had it all together.
