The best thing about a bad day
So, I have spent quite a bit of time today groaning and moaning to myself and feeling ever so sorry for myself because I really wanted to drink but I can't because I am one of the poor souls who had the bad luck to be an alcoholic - I'm sure we all go through this self pity - I do A LOT!! But this site has kept me grounded, made me laugh, and really made me think! And the very best about today is that I have got through the day, done a lot, cleaned my room, put clean sheets on the bed, now I have just had a lovely hot shower, am in clean jammies, in my bed and I am SO VERY grateful that I am going to bed sober!! How cool is that? I just feel, well, clean ........ Goodnight all, sweet dreams.

Congrats on another day sober! Self-pity can be an easy thing to fall into if we spend too much time in our minds.
I know this is a corny AA saying, but I relate a lot to it:
"The days where everything goes right and I don't drink is a good day.
The days where everything goes wrong and I don't drink is a great day."
I am grateful that "great" days are now becoming few and far between.
