Awful urges today

Ugh...having a struggle today. Don't know if I am having anxiety or just withdrawal..but I feel like my heart is fluttering. It's almost 3 weeks sober for me, and I haven't really had any withdrawal, so probably not that, prob. Anxiety.

I was at my daughters swim class and the suffocating heat was getting to me. I was dying for a drink. Thank god my daughter was with me so I couldn't stop at store on way home:-(. Feel a little better, but want this day to be over!

Take deep breaths! You're okay. You didn't drink, and that's REALLY good. Have lotsa water and flush that adrenaline out of your system. Do you think it would help to eat something? Sorry about your day. X

Congrats on three weeks sober!:) Each time you resist the urge to drink you will get stronger. Eventually the urge will go away.

Does the urge ever really go away? terrible day (d 18), I get you, Dolly.
Tomorrow is another day I guess.

Well done Dolly! It will get easier.

Sigh....thanks all. It's a bit better. I do wonder if hormones were playing a role in things. Anyway...fought through it. Busied myself getting my hair cut. The knowledge that if I drank, it would only be worse, and my husband would smell it on me. I couldn't bear to see the disappointment in his eyes.

Hoping I am through the worst of this day!!!!

Thank you all for your supportive comments!!!! Really helps.

I think the dark chocolate covered pomegranate bites are helping too:-)

Well done!! Plus it is your usual "food shopping" day. Think of how good you will feel in the am!

Having a bit of a struggle today as well my moms already talking about what drinks to order at dinner. She said you can have just one martini right!!!??? I said sure I could but I'm not going to!!

This is the woman that told my husband he needs to take my kids if I don't quit drinking. I thought for a second wow I could drink without my mom judging me WTF!

Ugh my husband was so pissed

That must've been frightening, Dolly. I'm glad you wanted to talk about it. I was still having those challenges at 3 weeks, but they eventually disappeared. You're doing great. :)

Inperfectly - That makes no sense (your mom). I have friends who don't want me to be a 'downer', so they suggest just having ONE. As if that could actually be possible. :) They just don't get it.
