Newbie says "Hello"

Hello,

I'm a wife to a recovering (<30 days) alcoholic. I was very very close to divorce but he made it to detox did 60 days (got cocky, thought "I'm cured") slipped, and is still learning to master the skills that will help him succeed.

I'm a nurse (ED) and I'm fully aware of the effects of drinking and the amazing part was his drunken statements of "I haven't had anything to drink" straight to my face. It was funny and it was also heartbreakingly sad. The man he becomes when he is drunk is not a man I want anything to do with.

He's been going to meetings. He has a sponsor. I'm trying to be supportive (went to an amazing open meeting last sunday) and I've been taking his share of the household chores, so he can focus on his sobriety.

I've decided to join this group because I've been lurking for a while and I wanted to say how helpful the information and posts have been.

Thank you!
