Ok so Im 53 days sober today and feeling great. I have a question though. Im in my best freinds wedding this weekend tomorrow is the rehersal and dinner and sat is the wedding. I know thetrs going to be a more than fair amount of heavy drinking going on at noth the rehersal dinner and obviously at the reception. Im a little worried this is the first time ive been around any heavy drinking since I stopped. Does any body have any advice to make it a little easier on myself while im there?

I wouldn't have gone to something like that so soon.

If you must go, think about likely scenarios where people may ask you to drink, or you may want to drink, and think about how you'll deal with them. Be prepared.

It's a good idea to carry your own (soft) drink around...and have an escape plan for if it all gets too much.

jbds1281 sounds like how I felt when I had about 20 days just before Thanksgiving. At the time I couldn't imagine not drinking on Thanksgiving. I was really worried, but Dee had posted some things about getting through the holidays and about urge surfing that really helped. In a nutshell, what helped, and still helps me, is to think it all the way through when I think about drinking. THINK about the drink before you touch it, the knowing there will be more than one, certainly a drunk, hangover, headache or worse, regret and disappointment, or worse. Think it all the way through and be strong. Make it through and you will be that much stronger for the next hurdle. It takes a lot of serious work to get to 53 days. Keep it going. Don't let anyone twist your arm. Be firm. Nobody and no situation is important enough to give up your 53 days.

Im not to worried about to many people trying to talk me into drinking I have alor of support from alot of the people that are going. Its just seeing everybody drinkin thatll be the hard part and being in that inviroment again that scares me.
