If it was your last day

If it was your last day on earth, would you have a drink?

Opivotal 05-14-2013 09:35 AM

NO! I love being in the moment and clear headed. If it was my last day on earth, alcohol would be the last thing on my mind.

No.

EverySngleNight 05-14-2013 09:37 AM

Not today.

ScottFromWI 05-14-2013 09:37 AM

I'm worried about staying sober today. That wouldn't change on my "last" day, even if I could predict when that might be.

bbthumper 05-14-2013 09:37 AM

LOL! What a waste. That 'last' drink would require another drink, then another then another etc. Id black out or pass out by noon and wouldn't experience my last day on earth!

MidnightBlue 05-14-2013 09:39 AM

Absolutely NO. Because I feel SOOOO GREEEEAT without it.

Seriously, no kidding.

Chilledice 05-14-2013 09:41 AM

Good input guys! :)

doggonecarl 05-14-2013 09:41 AM

As far as I know, it is my last day on earth. For I do not know what fate has in store for me.

And no, I'm not drinking.

Why do you ask? Are you setting up in your mind the situations where it is "okay" to drink?

AnvilheadII 05-14-2013 09:42 AM

i'd be too busy holding on tight to my husband and my daughter, and trying to absorb every sight and smell and sound to bother much with meaningless stuff like having a drink.

Oh gosh no not at all! I was just curious that is all, nothing more than that :)

Weasel1966 05-14-2013 09:45 AM

I have zero proof that this is not my last day. So drinking would be pointless.

Elphaba 05-14-2013 09:47 AM

It depends. If the plane is nose diving towards the Atlantic then ya, definitely pass the vodka!

Dollyangel17 05-14-2013 09:50 AM

My initial thought would be HELL YES! Guess it's my inner alcoholic instinct I still have. However, after about 30 seconds, I thought...actually, no I wouldn't. I don't think I would want to spend the last hours of my life getting reaquainted with something that almost destroyed my life and family.

HitRockBottom70 05-14-2013 09:50 AM

There have been many days that people have said the world would end and we are still here.

I know how horrible I felt the next day so I would be afraid there would be a next day. No drinking for me.

AllieB 05-14-2013 09:51 AM

What a good question.

Absolutely not -- I'd want to collect my final thoughts and sensations with a clear head and really appreciate every atom of my final breaths!

Of course, that's assuming I were about to die. If it were instead my last day on Earth because Zaphfrak Xblurb Whigwxyl the Third was transferring me to planetary system with no alcohol and where all beverages tasted like sour milk, I might be tempted to reconsider my answer.

wpainterw 05-14-2013 09:54 AM

I think we've discussed this before. The answer for me is no. I'd say, with the words of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, "Free at last! Thank God almighty! I'm free at last!" When the end comes, would the former slave put on his chains again just for "old time's sake"? Should AVRT's "beast within" have the "last laugh"? (A soft demonic chuckle: "I knew you were on a dry drunk all along!")They offered Commodore Vanderbilt champagne on his deathbed and he replied, "Wouldn't sody water do just as well?"

W.

All very interesting answers, keep them coming and thank you for taking the time to reply to my question :)

Michael66 05-14-2013 10:11 AM

Nope - no wish for a hangover on my first day in heaven :)

ACT10Npack 05-14-2013 10:31 AM

I remember when I was at a SOS dinner meeting. Someone talk about how he does not want to die from alcohol abuse. But if he only had a few week or months to live from a disease then he would not care and would drink.
