hopeful
You don't have to wish, you can do it with help and support. There is plenty of it here at SR, and lots of info about where to find help elsewhere (AA, secular recovery, etc ).
The key is that you have to want it ( quitting ) more than anything else. And if you do, you don't have to wish! Best of luck and read lots, ask lots of questions too.

In the past , I stopped twice. Both times I made it about 7 mouths. I've been to AA. I really don't like all the talk about God. I also did group therapy .I have a good life and lots to be thankful for. But , with the drinking ,I'm ruining my health and relationships

Hi Garden -
I'm with you. This is my day 1 (again). AA isn't for me either. I don't want to ruin my health or relationships anymore. Please let me/us know how you're doing. I decided I can't have any alcohol in my house anymore. I have to figure out a way to regain my life.

No wine tonight!
Hello Ostrich123, We're both in the same position with just getting started. I'm going to do it the old "one day at a time" .So for tonight, no wine for me. I be back tomorrow to post and to also grab some motovation from others posting. Good luck and let know how your doing also.
I quit drinking with the help of this site and weekly counseling sessions. It's helped me stay sober for over three years now. And I used to think I was hopeless. So if I can do it, you can too. But ya gotta wanna!
