This time I took a much different approach and pulled my recovery into my study of Zen Buddhism and Japanese culture. It has now become a part of my daily routine to no drink rather than have my recovery exist as a separate entity outside of it. I had another gig with my band last night and did just fine without a single drop of poison. If I got the urge, I ordered a diet coke..when I wanted to smoke, I chewed gum. When it got too much, I took a walk and came back. Before the show, we went to a restaurant for dinner rather than "pre-game" in the parking lot or at the bar. This time, I let my band mates know what I was up to instead of shouldering it all on my own and they have been such a strong support system for me. Knowing that they are on my side makes playing shows more fun, plus I am writing about my experiences which allows me to release the emotions in a positive way. Did I ever post any of my lyrics on the subject?

And thanks for the warm welcome back!
