Solitude a lot easier when sober.

I've noticed that since I quit drinking I find it a lot easier to be on my own. I don't get as lonely or such a strong need to be around people anymore. Did this happen for you?

Hi David. I feel like that too. I live alone out in the country and while my partner stays with me a lot, I spend a lot of time alone. Hanging with my dogs, taking care of my house and flowers. I guess it is peace :). I had enough chaos when I was a drunk.

Yes, it did.

Drinking for me was a symptom and the root cause was that I didn't like myself at all. So, I sure didn't want to be alone with me. :)

when i was drinkin, there were times i would get lonely so id drag my but to the bar....only to go sit in the corner and not want nayone to bother me.

when i was gettin sober, being by myself was scary. as time went on, i learned how to be by myself and be good with it. learned that if i cant be happy, peaceful, and serene by myself, no amount of people around me was gonna help.

IMO, yer doin great if being by yourself is ok. but there is a line that can be crossed into isolating.
