That feeling like I'm not ready to quit.

I feel great when I'm sober, I am a pleasure to be around. But everytime I get on a good streak of sobriety I blow it. Right now I feel like I don't want to quit, that I mostly just hate alcohol, hate being drunk, hate being hung over, and hate what it does to my body. I know I should quit, and I want to quit, but I keep sabotaging my efforts.

Frustrated about it...

That's the damaged side of your brain doing that - ignore it!

Listen to the clever side - it's telling you everything you need to know :-)

Good news is after a while the damaged side will get better and your be super clever and will rock!!

Be strong :-)

And if you find that you can't do this on your own then come to AA.

All the best.

"I feel great when I'm sober, I am a pleasure to be around."

It'll be hard to make it stick until the second half of that sentence involves something you gain for you, not others.

Feeling great is awesome, but I know for me that novelty wore off after a couple of weeks. To enjoy my sobriety I've had to pick up activities that I know I wouldn't/couldn't do while drunk. That really helps...
