Cant stay sober on the weekends!!!

I got through the whole week with out a drink and usually start from Thursday to Saturday. These 3 days could probably amount to a whole week of drinking. Today I woke up good, went to the gym at 5 am and got to work on time but something inside of me is missing. I feel sad inside and hopeless. My license is revoked due to DUI and the DMV is making it quite difficult for me to get it back. I like to drink since it gives me courage when im at the bars. Even though females tell me that I'm handsome, I still feel like I'm a boring person if I'm not drinking. I'm starting to see that the liquor is only giving me a short term happy ness and its actually ruining my life. I feel like I just had to vent.

Vent away! I scrapped by this weekend. Was handed a Margarita as soon as I walked into Cinco de Wacko Party. Quickly went to the bathroom (but not too quickly). Had a brief flash that I could slam it and then switch to water, then dumped it down the toilet and refilled it with water. Yeah... Its tough... Any substitute activity you can do on the weekends, like a hiking/camping trip etc.

Here are the AA promises. I experienced these myself years ago and have seen them fulfilled in others.

If we are painstaking about this phase of our development, we will be amazed before we are half way through.
We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.
We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it.
We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace.
No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others.
That feeling of uselessness and self-pity will disappear.
We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows.
Self-seeking will slip away.
Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change.
Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us.
We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us.
We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.
Are these extravagant promises? We think not.
They are being fulfilled among us - sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly.
They will always materialize if we work for them.

Yea it sucks to got thru the week with only $20 after spending it on alcohol and strippers. I'm actually talking to one and I'm starting to see that there is no love. Maybe thats why I feel so down. I'm always in pursuit of the wrong things. Last night I actually prayed and hoped thing will turn out better. I guess I have to put my part. How can I increase my faith? What can I do to stay sober when I'm In love with the night life. I'm only 27 but I fear for my future. I have pain in my heart, I'm feel emotionless. Is there someone out there for me? I'm tired of being lonely and drinking alone blasting music in a small room. I don't want to keep doing this. Life is not fun for me no more. Its just work to pay bills late and spend it at a club talking to dancer who front like they like me but probably don't care.

Uhhh. I'm tired of this cycle.

Break that cycle... You're still very young, (I'm 13 years ahead of you) and have your whole life ahead of you.

With a program of recovery to guide
you and help you learn to live an
awesome life sober, you can also be
a honest, healthy, "handsome" guy
in recovery too. :)

Instead of wasting and throwing our
lives away, we learn a better way of
living with incorporating useful tools
and knowledge of our addiction in our
everday lives so that we can now have
a purpose in life. A purpose in passing
on our own experiences, strengths and hopes
of what our lives were and are like before,
during and after our drinking or using careers.

You don't have to hide behind your addiction
ever again. Listen, learn, absorb, and apply
what you learn from knowing all there is
to know about addiction. Then with humility,
humbleness, responsibility, live your life
happy, joyous and free for years to come. :)

What guide can I go to recovery? Is AA the only hope? Can I do the 12 step s by myself or with someone online? For you guys out there that are sober, what guides you and keeps you clean?

There are many choices to choose from
in whatever recovery you need. I am
glad to share with you that my journey
in recovery began with a family intervention
where I went into rehab for Alcoholism and
received tools and knowledge of my alcoholism
and a step program in Alcoholics Anonymous.

This program has helped me stay sober for
a many one days at a time for the past 22 yrs.
This program began with a 28 in rehab stay
with a 6 week aftercare outpatient program attached.

Along with that, I attended many AA meetings,
listening, absorbing and following in the footsteps
of many before me that have stayed sober themselves
for many yrs. as well.

Research, ask questions and find someone you
can follow or "carry you" so to speak, which means
have them by ur side to go to meetings with or
meet u at meetings, someone you can pal around
with, that will guide you by their own examples of
how they stay sober. That way you will never have
to "be alone" while learning to stay sober each day.:)
