In my 11th year. Having fun, but struggling with how I relate to AA now. For the past several years things have been revealed that make it "more" difficult to grow in fellowship with AA.

These truths were revealed at the start, but they are much more pronounced now. I believe the gospel and this also makes it very difficult to fellowship with most corporate churches. I love AA, but it's becoming hard to grow in a situation where people are stuck in the apathy of "concept of god" as apposed to nailing down a reality of a True God. I don't want to drink, still go to meetings sometimes and take others through the steps. I still have many close friend in AA....so

I have no desire to convince anyone of what has been revealed to me, just struggling with a desire to find fellowship with others of like mind. It seems that truth is okay in AA as long as it stays vague, if you try too hard to nail it down there is great resistance, and no I am not referring to newcomers...I am referring to those with long term sobriety. There seems to be the ability for many to stay sober without continuing to grow in truth. As with most religious organizations that seem to have an ability to have an appearance of morality/spirituality without having the revelation of God aka a spiritual experience.

Anyone experiencing this?

Well done on your sober time, that's awesome. I haven't got experience to share on this topic but I just wanted to point you in the direction of the 12 step forum here on SR where you might find others who can relate.

Look into Celebrate Recovery in your area.

I have not experienced this. Why would someone else's concept of god be of any consequence at all in your ability to use AA to stay sober and help others?

Hi. In my experience with the fellowship for over 30 years I don't recall religious views, except Higher Power, expressed. I don't recall going to church even mentioned except for someone declaring after some sobriety of returning to a former church. I'm not a religious person and would recall religious talk, which by the way is against AA traditions. It's in the preamble even. Perhaps it's a regional situation? BE WELL
