Hi

I am pregnant eleve weeks and have been alcohol free for awhile. However, I have had so many emotional ups and downs that I drank about five drinks trying to make myself feel less crazy. I feel silly going back to AA given I am pregnant and drank. I need some help. Can anyone please help me.

Welcome to SR MJ.

We can provide emotional support, information, and maybe a little inspiration, but the rest is up to you. Would you be willing to suffer a little embarrassment at an AA meeting if that's what saved your baby from fetal alcohol syndrome?

I don't know what your path to sobriety will be, but you can find it here at SR. Post and ask questions, and we'll do out part to help.

Best of Luck!

Welcome. AA is for all people who need help regarding getting and staying sober. Please try not to feel shamed that you drank. We alcoholics unfortunately do that because we are alcoholics and need help. I seldom bet but I'd bet if you said at a meeting what you did above more than a few, after the meeting would understand and embrace you and offer help. KEEP COMING AND BE WELL

mjcarlas, your honesty touched me. It's not easy to admit that you drank while pregnant, now just go to a meeting, post here on SR get a sponsor, read the big book, check out AVRT, get your family on board and do whatever else you need to do to keep your baby safe. I wish you much luck. xx
