Well, yesterday was the last straw. I'm riding the bus now because i wrecked my car while i was high. So i'm sitting here on public transportation and part of me is angry and whining. This sucks! I shouldn't be having to bus it! I HAD a car! But then, i had a moment of clarity. I'm on the bus and i'm grateful. I didn't harm anyone when i wrecked my car and i'm grateful. I didn't have the police involved in my wreck and i'm grateful. I have pretty efficent public transportation in my city and i'm grateful. The basic necessities are just a 15 minute bus ride away and i'm grateful. I have AA friends that will give me a lift to meetings and other things and i'm REALLY grateful. I've got so many things to be grateful for and that's just what came to me sitting on the bus. How can i not be grateful for all of these things? I am one lucky chick and this has been a nice ride on the bus.

Hope all goes well for you! I'm in the same boat since a DUI in 2010, it was just too expensive to drive, so I became a walker / bus rider.
I was lucky to land an apartment that is 20 minutes away from work by foot, so I get my daily exercise. And Portland, OR has a stellar bus system. Yeah, it can be a little smelly, crowded, rambunctious at times. But it gets me where I need to go, and beggars can't be choosers! :P
Sounds like you have a good circle of supportive people. You can do this.

It sounds like the bus ride was pleasant. You got on here and posted, and then you were home. Vehicles are overrated ,expensive, and a whole ton of money( I hope my car did not hear that) I am grateful that you are alive and that nobody got hurt with your accident. You can do this DG! You are doing this!

My craziness, and I've found it isn't unique among alkies, was after my dui I was in bad financial shape -- so I sold the car, drank that money away, and my thinking was if I didn't have a car I wouldn't drive drunk. Well, that lasted a few weeks, when I drove my roommates' (without permission) drunk.
I just ended up driving other people's cars drunk. The insanity. Don't miss that.

Did you ever hear the phrase that first God/the universe gives us a whisper. If we don't listen to the whisper we get a tap. Don't listen to that, we get a brick. Don't listen to that, we get a brick wall. The earlier we listen to the signs, the better for us, but they will keep showing up until they get our attention! Maybe this is your brick?
Wow DG! you're gratitude reminds me of what this guy said @ men's mtg on Wed:if he had to dig out of garbage can for food after loosing evthg, he would be grateful for the can....hmmm talk bout humbling & the Lord cornering you & have no more excuses & all u can say is THANK YOU
