looking for strength
I am in need of encouragement . Its been a struggle this week and today is no easier. The weekend , Friday. What makes it any different ? For me if is. I will fight the beast . I want to God Bless
Sorry you are having a hard time! Tonight was rough for me tonight too, wanted nothing more than to give into my AV! But I got through it and am on my way to bed, sober for the second weekend in a row.you CAN do this!! Just don't have the first drink.watch a movie, read the forum, drink tea, talk to a friend, anything good luck x

Hi Ricky. After bouncing around AA many years ago a couple things, besides the daily pain, that made sense to me was that if you don't pick up the first drink/drug you never have to stop again and get honest with myself. Then a lot of meetings followed my sick and tired feeling and I got slowly better with a lot of years of meetings because I kept coming even the times I didn't want to. BE WELL

The weekend is not the finish line; it's more like a coffee break.
Take a look at the tools that you have to do the job and plan your next move.
My life was a wreck and I thought it was impossible to rebuild.
There were many things for me to disassemble and clean up before I could reassemble them in a working order.
My original equipment had been abused and needed to be replaced with modified improvements.
After I had tuned up my emotions, there was a break in period.
I'm not leading the race now, but I'm running with the lead pack.
There still many laps to go in this race but I'm not at the back of the pack and not stuck in the pits.

Hey Ken Got my pay, and am in the process of making a deposit. Alls well. The beast is not a happy camper and is restless for sure. I got cravings but instead will probably treat myself to a nice steak. Hell for what I usually spend on a Friday night I could take all u with me. Nothing changes if nothing changes. Still not out of danger but am staying on SR. God Bless
Count me in on this! Had the cravings bad this afternoon. Did the usual distractions and thankfully got through it.
Bank hol weekend here, (you too Darkplace) so just feels that extra urge to celebrate with a drink (uck). Looking forward to further down the road, when drink crave does not occur just because its a bank holiday weekend!

Triky take out a pen and paper and write down what could possibly happen if you pick up tonight. Every dirty detail. Be honest.
Write down how you think you will feel tomorrow when you wake up. Write down who you will have disappointed.Write down the money you will spend. Write down the legal ramifications if ytou were to get arrested,Write down what feelings you are trying to get away from. Write down what you think you could have done to work through those emotions. Write down if those feelings you are having are temporary and will pass or if they are permanent. Write down if there is a solution to those feelings other than drugs.
Then write down on another piece of paper how you will feel if you wake up clean and sober. Write down who you are doing this for besides yourself. Write down why you are happy you did not use. Write down what you learned from working through your thoughts rather than acting on them. Write down why it was important to ask for help. Write down the benefits of asking for help.
Take suggestions, won't know if they work if you don't take them.
