new again

Day 1 of being sober again, I had 8 years once but lost it when I got too busy and successful to go to meetings. Now I am having problems with internal organs, because alcohol is so much more physically damaging to a woman.
This time it is much harder to quit, the obsession so powerful..that it seems easy to throw a few days sobriety away..and just start over again and again and again, but each time it gets harder to get back and I get closer to certain death..I seriously need help, I know what to do, just having difficulty finding the motivation again.

Let me ask you something Karen...
Do you want to live ?
If the answer is yes, then you have your motivation.
Sounds to me like you don't have many chances left.

Welcome, Karen!

SoberRecovery can help you with motivation, but maybe you need more than that? I might have gone to the extreme--I went to the ER then a week of detox, then AA meetings every day. Have you tried any programs?

Yes I want to live! That is why I am here!
I cannot go to rehab, not until school is out, I know what to do, just have to get off my butt and do it!
90 in 90..all that! I know the drill well, its my ego that gets in the way!

Can you see your doctor for help in getting thru withdrawal? Can you go to a detox place for a week? What about going back to meetings?

You can quit drinking, but you've got to want to be sober more than you want to drink. You can do this. We're here to support you.

Dig down deep and try to remember that feeling you once had when you finally realized you had gotten the upper hand on your addiction. That wonderful joyous feeling of " I did it !" I know you can remember that feeling. Now. Go look in the mirror. Tell yourself all of the bad things that are happening to you again. I will pray for your strength and direction.

Hi Karen -

Welcome. Glad that you're here.

If school is challenging your sobriety, then many school have options set up to work and support you as alcoholism falls in the medical category.

RE: motivation. Would it help to make a public goal with your household/support to not drink?
