I'm so mad now...

I really opened up to my roommate today about my drinking and how this time I'm very trying to stop.

She goes and invites our friends to our apartment to drink! Really???
I know, I know, it's not her problem but come on now...I told her that I don't want to be anywhere near alcohol in next few days since my withdrawals are kicking my butt and it's so easy to drink the pain away...I'm just shocked...

Well, will lock myself to another room, drink my water, take my vitamins and watch a movie...

Does anybody have same kind of issue or experience on how to deal with a situation like this?

I'm sorry that happened to you. I chose to not tell people that I was stopping drinking. I felt extremely vulnerable and I didn't want anyone's comments to push me over the edge. I avoided people drinking alcohol for many months. If your roommate has people drinking at your place, can you go out for a walk, visit a friend, go to a movie? And, in the long-term, can you find a different living situation?

Thanks Anna. I found myself a new place and will be moving in a month. That will help a lot. I will definitely take your advise and next time just leave the house...

I would not have liked that at all. I'm sorry that you experienced this. Good for you for finding a place. I hope that you are making it through the first few days smoothly. We are here for you.
