Hi
Welcome to our family.
I am in the UK too, there are lots of us here.
Have you tried anything before?
Have you heard of addictive voice recognition technique (AVRT)?
There are quite a lot of threads on here about it, maybe it might be something to read up on?
My best to you

All part of the service!
We have lots of information and there are daily threads you can join.
Why not join the class of April (for people who gave up drinking in April) and make some friends there too.
If you can come here and post before you drink and it stops you then thats great.
xx

Hi and welcome. I and many of us when abandoning alcohol think of it almost constantly because of its addictive power. Finally someone suggested to us at a AA beginners meeting to focus our thoughts on NOT DRINKING things. I'd think of digging a hole in very rocky ground to plant a rose plant or something very unpleasant like cleaning a barn of animal poop etc. Sounded goofy but it worked for me and the craving fortunately was just for a few more days. BE WELL
Cravings are a major pain early on, but every time you resist them they lose a little bit of power over you. They often hit at predictable times like after work, Fridays, when you're hungry, tired; you can provide your own list.
I worked out some strategies for when I knew they would be strong. After work I'd break up my commute with a walk or buy a freshly made juice. I had a fridge full of nice soft drinks, and would eat something small and sweet. There are lots of other ways but you can think them up to suit yourself.
The cravings diminish over time as you learn to cope with them.

i used to make sure the freezer was full so if i was feeling weak i didn't have to go past the alcohol aisle in the supermarket .
I also had a small tub of luxury chocolate chip ice cream that i would use as a substitute reward for alcohol .
Bestwishes, M
