AA questions for meeting tomorrow night, please help! Hello All, Well I have a story and a half that I will definitely share now that I have joined the group... but I was just looking for some quick HELP for tonight. My fiance has been away in rehab for the past year, and tomorrow night is his 1 year anniversary (YAY!!!). He asked me to be his coin-giver at the AA meeting, and although I've been through a 30-day program and have become sober myself... I have NOT been active in AA. Can anyone kindly help me in what is customary for the coin-giver to say, how long or short should I be etc. Any and all help and advice will definitely be appreciated!!! I'm not looking to fake anything, as I know I will probably be in tears and whatever I say will be straight from the heart... I just think I will be a little more comfortable if I am familar with what is customary at the anniversary meetings. Thanks in advance!!! |
Why not just give him his coin and cry for joy...that is real, let 'em all see ! Customary is not an issue or concern...let it flow ! Raku |
Just go up there when it is time, usually after they ask if anyone has a year? He will go up there , wait to see if anyone picks up a year and then just go up and give a few words about how you feel about his achievements. (Like you are proud) u should make a few jokes like he made my life hell but he stuck it out and I am so proud.lol if u want and then give him a big wet kiss and hand him his coin! |
Hey Deeker...you're back online !..Great ! |
cool beans on one year! i dont think theres anythign really customary through AA as a whole, but the group may have things they follow. |
