Lightbulb Welcome Newcomers!!

Hi to all of you who have joined the site in the last few weeks, and those who are still 'just reading'.

I had no real faith in my ability to stop drinking - but the wonderful community at SR helped me turn my life around.
I've been here since 2007.

There's absolutely no pressure to post - but I hope a lot of you do - this is a safe place, and we really are here to help

D

Reading is one thing but being involved, being connected, and writing or talking about my experience is what was the key for me. I got so much out of this forum - and it's a very rare thing on the internet to find a forum that is helpful for a big life issue. Thank you to the moderators who keep it safe here.

There are several thousands of people just reading - right now. I want to say that you can get out of whatever situation has brought you here. There is a better life, grab it!

SR is beyond amazing and has helped me in many levels. And like Bim, for me..be engaged and participating was key to my sobriety and still is. I have found nothing but caring people here.

With my recovery foundation laid down with the help
of recovery meetings back in the beginning of my journey
in 1990, I was insearch of an online support group and
another type of recovery lifeline to use on a daily basis,
I came across SR.

Altho I continued to use my face to face meetings
in a brick and mortar building for yrs, I wanted a
connection online for all the other hours of the days
for added recovery support.

Back in 1990, computers were in their infancy and
since then, more and more folks turn to online meetings
and support to help fight addiction and learn the hows of
achieving continuous sobriety.

I have been here for a number of years receiving
positive support and encouragements while reading
other folks journeys' of before, during and after their
addiction.

In doing so, it strengthens my own resolve in remaining
sober no matter what life throws our way. The support,
the struggles, the fight, desires, the wanting to get and
remain sober and the many triumphants, rewards, blessings
achieved each day from each member is priceless.

I am just one of many who have came here and stayed in SR
finding comfort, caring, compassionate, understanding,
enlightening, knowledgeable folks that make up an recovery
fellowship worth holding onto each day moving forward in
their own personal journey's in recovery.

For this recovery site, I am grateful.

I was skeptical too when I first signed up here - couldn't imagine how it could help me longterm. It was the daily interaction that strengthened me, gave me courage, & helped me stay vigilant.
Welcome to a wonderful place where you can be yourself without being judged. We all understand what you're going through, like others can't.

Big Welcome from me too.

SR has helped me stay sober! The bit where I needed the support. The understanding.

Four years now. And I am so very grateful.

I joined a couple of years ago when I was desperate to understand why I was drinking so much, why I could not stop. I had tried to stop on many occasions. This wonderful forum, which has such kind and thoughtful people helped me to literally change my life. If you have found us, then stay because it will do what you want it to, become free.

Welcome from me too. I lurked for a couple years before joining. Was finally able to quit November 2021. The support from SR made all the difference in the world. It took a more than a few tries to make it stick but I did it. Never give up. I still visit every day to remind myself to stay on the path and help others where I can.

I came here first eleven years ago, looking for answers about God and AA. I found much more.

I suggest that everyone read Dee's story. It's truly inspiring.

What a great post Dee.

i encourage all newbies to read, read, read here. There will be posts that you totally identify with and not feel so alone .

It’s a place f comfort and togetherness. I’ve met so many lovely people that have guided me along the way when times get tough.

unlike most social media, you will not find any bullying here, just like minded people who truly want to get sober. We have all had slips and there is no judgement .

you are with friends here and a big welcome to ALL OF YOU xxx

One word I would never use to describe Dee is narcissist.

If anyone reading along is suffering, I'm saying a little prayer for you.

When I joined this website I was in bad shape, I just couldn't sustain sobriety for more than a couple of weeks.

I finally joined the sobriety class of August 2009, and that was the key factor in helping me to finally get sober. I will hit my 14th year of sobriety in April and I am forever grateful.

Hi newcomers! SR is a place full of support and will give you as much help as you need.

I primarily used SR for my support system, and if I had listened more closely and opened my mind up a bit sooner I would be many, many years sober right now- but I am solid and grateful at 2+ years. This place accepted my foibles and welcomed me at every turn with patience and understanding. It's a great place, and I credit these people with me being alive today.
