Newbie on Day 7
My story is similar to most of you on here. I've been drinking too much for too long and have tried all the tricks: drinking on weekends only, switching the type of alcohol, moderating, alternating, sneaking, hiding, lying and denying. Time for this 50 something mom and wife to call it quits. I'm so happy to be among you fine people and I look forward to the support you offer and hope I can do the same. I had a huge challenge my first sober weekend, a family wedding, but I did it. The beast was an uninvited guest, but she left after about an hour and I was able to truly enjoy myself.

Hi JJSJ. I was 50 something also when I quit for the last time. 
I was worn out - tired of trying to make it work. There was no joy in it anymore, just misery. It was hard to let go, but once I adjusted to my new life I found happiness again - it was such a relief to be rid of it and be free. You can do it!
