Today we had 2 visitors at our open AA meeting. They didn't share, and said they were there from some local church, just to observe.
Anyway, I noticed one of them crying at one point, so I got up and got her a tissue. When I gave it to her, the look she gave me was one of absolute wonder -- as if she couldn't believe the gesture. When I sat back down, her friend started gazing at me in gratitude too, as if she *also* couldn't believe my gesture of kindness.
It made me wonder -- are acts of kindness so rare these days? I've always been like this, I pick up on people's moods and comfort them in whatever way I can.
Isn't that what AA is all about? Or maybe at that's what my home group is all about?
I feel like the kindness in AA is a of a special breed. We get better TOGETHER.
If anyone is having difficulty finding a good meeting, don't give up!!! It's worth the hunt to find your home.
(:
