Making changes
I decided to see an addiction specialist tomorrow. Kinda nervous.... She specializes in anxiety, which I feel is a huge reason I drink . Even tho drinking makes it WAY worse so I don't really get that. This is the first time I've tried to not quit on my own. Admitted to my gf that I think I have a problem and now seeing a professional to talk about it . Makes me feel hopeful

About a year ago, I did exactly what you're doing--saw an addictions counselor and focused on my anxiety. It really helped. I had a recent relapse, but I'll be pursuing one-on-one counseling again very soon, as I did see a difference.
You've probably already heard this, but be very honest. These counselors have seen and heard everything, and they're there to help, not judge. It took me a few months to realize that. Good luck with your meeting!
P.S. - Alcohol also makes my anxiety SOOO much worse in the long run! My counselor said that many people with anxiety turn to alcohol for a "quick fix," but it's so much better to take the time to make long-term changes.
