What are your strengths that will help you quit???
Feeling grateful for the opportunity to take a truly sober look at my past experiences and feel the feelings that alcohol smothered for many years.
Having the opportunity to work through these feelings has began a journey of healing for me that was necessary for me to move forward in my life; it is transforming me.
I now look forward to the future.

Great post, DG! I've enjoyed all the different responses so far... looking forward to seeing more.
I'd like to list these for myself:
Knowing the importance of education on addiction, info-gathering tendency.
Honesty. And acceptance of reality.
Trust. Both others and myself.
Willingness. To keep an open mind and to search for what works for me.
Revision. Knowing when to try something new, revising a plan, etc.
Courage in the face of a perceived failure. Determination to keep trying until it works. Tenacity to keep tweaking until it all sticks!

Imagination. It helps so much to imagine myself being successful. To imagine how it will feel to say, "I'm clean and sober." "I QUIT DRINKING!!". It helps to imagine that it will be better in a year. It helps to imagine what my life would be like if I don't stop. It helps to imagine all of the things that would probably happen if I continue to drink.

I began to develop the ability to listen.
I began to trust and become teachable.
I finally developed the ability to do what I was told.
I became able to sit at an AA meeting and identify with the others without judging and tearing everything apart.
I try to exercise those strengths every day..
All the best.

I think it's important to realize that different people have different approaches to quitting and different stuff works for different people.
For me, determination combined with the decision I made to quit drinking really have gone a long way. It's working for me, so I'm not going to revise it. I'm still determined to keep on the path of not drinking and I'm determined to stay determined.
Determination isn't the only thing I rely on by any means, but it is what drives me to do whatever it takes to stay quit.
