I am not gonna do it but I catch myself thinking about the buzz. I want to kick myself for it. I cant drink. I know better than God that I can't drink. So why am I thinking about the feeling? Today it was 81 degrees outside. Felt like summer and I thought about drinking. I guess there will always be times when I think about a drink. I dont want it. I damn near killed myself. Really.

I think a lot of us 'think of a drink' for while. We drank for years, right?.

A thought is just a thought - it's what we do in response thats the measure of our recovery

I personally don't think those thoughts ever go away. As long as life continues, the thoughts will always come and go, but the biggest part will be how you respond to the thoughts. You did good today for recognizing the thought and how you reacted to the thought.

Hey Escapist, I also had a "moment" today that was probably triggered by the beautiful weather. I am two months sober now and have not been bothered too much after I got through the initial few weeks but today I was outside in the beautiful weather and thought, "Wouldn't a beer be awesome now?"

That led me down the rabbit hole of thinking "OMG, how am I going to do a whole summer without a drink?! I love drinking beer/wine/cocktails with friends in the summer!"

Then I checked in here and read for an hour, came home and called my sponsor, and it passed. But, yeah, had a moment and was surprised by how hard it hit me. As Dee said, tho', they are just thoughts...but hot damn thoughts can be powerful sometimes.
