Actually I never go into chat rooms anymore because to many things can be taken out of context. You can't really ascertain the tone in which people are saying things. ( ascertain is a big word for me) I prefer just reading posts in here. but I did just try to get into chat but it is saying I need to download JAVA CHAT. There is something at the top of this page FAQ Frequently asked questions, it may help.
To post a reply to a thread, click on "post reply" at the bottom left of the page. To enter the chat room, click on "chat room" on the blue bar top right of the page then click on "enter chat".

Recovered Alcoholic
I am replying to all who have messaged me and want to say thank you.
I am an alcoholic in my 32 year of sobriety and have never really found on line chatting useful but have changed my mind. I am slowly learning how to respond with the various messages. Thank you again for your interest and patience.

Hi beefer,
Based on how u intro u'reself yest, I thot you were new comer but I'm glad u're old timer that I can learn from. We all go thru times that are hard & confusing but this is a good place. Just as deeker said, I don't go into chat rooms coz I've never been there & don't know what's said. However, posting my exp, strength & hope here is great service work for me. Hope all is well now w/ you

Hi new,
It is great to hear from you. Old timer or not we all need too listen and act as a newcomer. Sharing the good stuff in recovery is the message! We all can't judge ourselves or anyone else by one act but by our state of Spiritual Fitness Steps 4-9 and try as all of us "must" do to practice the disciplines of Steps 10, 11, and 12 on a daily basis. By posting your "experience" with recovery , from where you get your strength, you give "hope" to me and others in your life.I hope I don't sound like a preacher but only encouraging you to "Continue....." Love and Respect Beefer

Hi Beefer, I'm up there with you and still go to 4-6 meetings a week. It's sad to see all the relapses that goes on here compared to my meetings of 30-50. there is some wonderful help here although I feel eyeball to eyeball contact is so much needed. I also miss the old time love of the "tough" old timers. Cotton in the mouth, sit up front and listen, your best effort got you here, it's simple not easy, and KEEP COMING. BE WELL

hi visch1
I also agree with what you shared. Sponsorship, sponsorship, sponsorship and God.
"It's not the meetings we make but the Steps we Take" Good direction on "silence speaks!
at a meeting when you only have an opinion. Too much opinion and not enough "experience" leads to relapse. God bless you and "Continue...."

Hi JCMalta,
Welcome and "Continue....." God has a plan for us and we no longer get a vote!" We are done for good and for all. Meetings are important! Meetings alone were never intended to treat "alcoholism" the Solution is outlined "clearly, exact and precisely" in the Big Book. Get a sponsor who can "point it out to you" and let the God of your understanding give you the courage to take your sponsor's direction. Love and Respect ...Beefer
