Trying a SMART meeting today

Since I have been struggling I am trying out something new today. Work has been hectic and will be so through testing season, so I am taking steps to work on me.

I read about an addiction recovery trial in the newspaper and the lady was very nice, but because I deal with anxiety I was not a candidate. We talked for a little while and it turns out there are several SMART meetings right by my house. So today I am going to sneak out a little early and go to a meeting and then squeeze in Pilates before being back at work for a PTA meeting at 7:00. The website looks good, I will check back in later and let you know how it goes.

Let us know how it works out. There is a SMART meeting near me, but I've not yet attended. I'd be interested in what you think of the group and process.

It was a good meeting. I liked the idea of self-management and also working toward finding balance in my life. We talked about ABCDE
Activating Event
Beliefs (current)
Consequences (helpful or harmful)
Dispute (which of my beliefs are dysfunctional, or unhelpful)
Effective new belief- focusing on the positive and what I can control.

I liked the format, they have meetings close to me on Wednesday and Friday late afternoon, I am going to try to get to them at least once a week.

@Nonsensical, squeezing and Pilates is definitely redundant!

Delilah, I'm really glad the meeting went well.
