Looking for support

My therapist suggested I join a forum for support in working through my drug and alcohol addiction. I have depression and anxiety and I'm weaning off my psych meds at the same time. Feeling like I'm on a roller coaster. Anyone can relate? What do you do when it gets rough?

Welcome to SR x

:welcome

I have also had depression and I still suffer from anxiety. I weaned off anti-depressants under medical supervision after I had been sober for a few months.

I've recently started therapy and been diagnosed with PTSD. I'm 10 months sober now.

When it gets tough.... I go to a meeting, I speak to my sponsor and I post on here. The love and support I've had from this forum has saved my life. And that's the truth x

Welcome to SR Growingmywings :) Glad you're here.

I had underlying depression and anxiety issues getting sober but thankfully most of the anxiety was caused by alcohol itself so that subsided a lot. One thing that has really helped me has been reading books by other recovering alcoholics. It helps to know we're not alone x

There is a stickie at the top of this forum with loads of book suggestions :) I liked Dry by Augusten Burroughs and Drinking: A Love Story by Caroline Knapp. The personal stories in the back of the Big Book of AA really helped me too x
