To all you "Cats" out there.
To all you "Cats" out there.
Have you ever noticed how many cat names there are in SR forums? I haven't figured out whether cat people are drawn to alcohol or alcoholics are drawn to cats. Maybe it is just that dogs require way to much care, attention and energy for us.
I just read an article on marketing in Success Magazine website that the number one topic on the Internet is, you guessed it, cats. We are in good company.
I can say that my cat has been a friend, comforter and distraction during my drying out and getting sober over the past seven weeks.

Funny. I have cats , always have. Don't even really get all mushy on them but they LOVE me. Maybe you're right. You can chuck some biscuits in a bowl and not have to walk them and they still love you. I love my cats. I've got a lovely little girl called peppa and her son durby. I wanted to call him angel from tess of the d'urbervilles but kids said no !
I once saw a thing on Facebook, I'll try and paraphrase.
"If you had to explain one thing about the world today to a person from 1900 what would it be?"
"I carry in my pocket, a device where I can instantly call to anywhere in the world, access all the information known to man, and I use it get in arguments with random strangers, and look at pictures of cats."

Meow, another cat person here! I absolutely love dogs as well! But you got it right, they do require a lot more care and attention. I am ready to get another dog, but the husband and I can't agree on the care. He grew up with the mentality that dogs belong outside and I want to have the dog sleep in at night. So, until we reach an agreement on parenting, I am holding off. I don't want to create any more drama in my life than is necessary!

I'd be lost without Bubba & Bean. Bean hates the smell of alcohol & would run from me on my binges. Now, she's a cuddlebug.
It's funny you brought this up, Booniecat. I was thinking the same when I signed on the other day.
Hail to the kittehs!

The cat on my avatar is "Whisker." She adopted us when we were living on Guam and stayed with us for 18 years, she died on my 50th birthday. In the mornings, she would walk my three kids to the bus stop and in the afternoon, would be waiting at the stop so she could lead them back home. She was a jewel.

Why is it that cats seem, to me, to respond to my general indifference about them makes my lap the lap of choice when a cat comes in and there are a number of people to climb all over, a number of them trying to get the cat to come to them, the cat circles the room and I'm just sitting there and the cat chooses me f.f.s.. I don't mind but I don't care either. What's with that? (I've never had a cat. Never felt any wanting to have one.)

I have a cat and he is the best! He has been such a comfort to me for almost 10 years now. And I think he's very happy that I am sober now as we have more time to cuddle instead of me passing out drunk
Somewhere on here is a pic of Wesa watching Animal Planet on TV---a cat show, of course! The sound was off as I was on the phone, but she happened to pass by, sat down, and became engrossed in "her" program!
