my friend is an addict

I opened my home to my best friend. She is 49. She came here from her last stint at rehab (30 days). I am her last resort. No one else will take her. She is on probation for the 3rd DUI, has no $, no driver's license and a part time job. She still can't stay sober. after a year of sneaking around drinking, I forced her to take antabuse in order to stay. That worked for a while but then she swapped out the pills (I hold the bottle and give her a daily dose) and started drinking on the sly again. I want her to leave since this isn't working but don't have the heart to throw her out. I need some advice. thanks.

Welcome, Noodlehead!

The thing that has worked for my wife and me is going to AA meetings, but it requires willingness.

Does she know you are at your wit's end?

If you want her to leave then you're going to have to throw her out, no two ways about it. You've been helpful but she's ignored your rules and it's time she was on her own, to make her own decisions and choices.
