Hello. I need help, info and advice. My sister is an addict. I have many questions and I'm seeking insight in order to gain understanding and compassion so I can be supportive and lose my relationship with her altogether. I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to seek such help. Thank you for all you can offer. ~Vespers

Welcome Vespers!

You're in the right place! There is a Friends and Families section, but the Newcomer's thread is the place to start.

To what is your sister addicted? Does she want to quit?

Thanks for your response. I've never participated in a forum such as this. I really don't know what to do, just know I must do something even if it's just somewhere to share. My sisters current addiction is to suboxone while abusing phentermine and I'm not sure what else she maybe adding to the mix. No she doesn't want to quit.

Try attending Al Anon or Naranon and focus on your healing.

Big hugs to you

If your sister doesn't want to quit drugs, there's not much you can do for her. It has to be her desire to quit. Please do take a look at our friends and family forum for more insight from folks in the same situation.

Vespers, I really hope you come back and spend some time here. There are many others who face the same challenges as you.

I must concede that there is nothing I can do for my sister even if we didn't live 2500 miles apart. Her only focus where I'm concerned seems to be a continual undermining of the relationship between my mother and I. Thank you again to all those replies.
