This Morning

This morning when my wife's alarm went off a few things happened.
She didn't have to take ear plugs out. Because I didn't snore the snore of a drunken beast.
I got to have a cup of coffee with her. Because my head wasn't throbbing.
I got dressed like a real human being. Because I didn't just stay in my jammers.
Once I got dressed, I took my dog for a walk. Instead of waiting until I felt steady enough to walk the sidewalk.
After our walk, my dog lie on his bed, instead of sitting at the edge of mine waiting for me to come to.

This morning is special to me, because these little things never happened when I was drinking.

I used to have that drunken beast snore, too. My wife recorded me one night to show me how bad it could get.

Congrats on waking up clean. It's a great feeling!

I too take delight in the little things sobriety brings me. Just waking up feeling good is the best blessing of all.

I'm newly sober myself and waking up hangover-free is a pretty amazing thing. Keep it up!

Great post, Scout. Anytime I feel an urge to drink I think it thru to the inevitable, self inflicted misery of the hangover.
