need help

so I know I definitely have a drinking problem. It's been escalating for years, but I've peaked at buying vodka and hiding it in my closet so I can drink when my husband isn't around. I'm tired of it and want to stop. A couple of years ago he found a bottle in the closet and confronted me. Since then I've been much better at hiding it.

I think one of the major issues is that I recently completed a school and have been trying to get a job with no success. So I am home feeling hopeless and drinking. Husband has no idea.

I'm hoping that when I get a job this will be a thing of the past, but i'm sure the problem is a lot deeper than that. Any advice is appreciated. I'm not ready to tell the hubby because of the shame involved. Somehow I can get away with it..but I don't care about that any more. I'm more worried about my health.

thanks!

I was into hiding alcohol, too. I took great lengths to deceive my spouse. I have found a lot of support here - I am on day 12 and for the first time in a long time feel joy.

If you quit drinking you'll never have to feel this shame and guilt again. I'm glad you joined our community.

I spent so much energy hiding alcohol, it was ridiculous. I suspect you're right - finding a job will probably not stop you from drinking. It might even get worse. Now is the time to stop drinking and letting go of the shame you feel.
