One week down!

Yay, seven days of not touching alcohol despite having been offered wine, gin and a very nice champagne! Tricky day today because of family problems that I have no control over but I know that a clear head will help anything that may get chucked my way today / this week.

I was enjoying the feeling of being awake so much that I gave up diet coke two days ago. I don't drink caffeine in anything else so I'm missing that buzz but at least the coke withdrawal headache's gone now.

Still really want a lovely, ice cold glass of chardonnay but very much enjoying a new found sense of control. Well, mostly... I can't seem to stop grazing on food, when does that stop?!

Thanks everyone for the encouraging messages. x

Congratulations on 1 week, Womble76. I can relate to your DOC, mine also! It gets easier to dissociate as the days/weeks of abstinence accumulate. As far as the food grazing, keep some healthy snacks around, carrots, nuts, fruit and veggies and use them with no worries. I too found giving up my lifelong coffee addiction helped tremendously in stabilizing my moods and reducing the evening cravings for wine. How that is/was related, I don’t know but the difference is apparent! If you haven’t already joined the class of March thread, you may want to look into it for additional support. Or, if you prefer, jump in on the April class thread with others new to sobriety. I joined the February class when I signed onto SR and the camaraderie, support and encouragement has been amazing!

Thanks Odelle, I'll give March a go. Silly question perhaps but what's a DOC?

Lol..I remember having to look that up myself. It stands for Drug of Choice.
