Hello from South Africa

Hi there,

I'm from a rural area in South Africa living on my ranch near a small town with Alanon and the AA being 3and1/2hrs away. I have a AW and two lovely children 13 and 15 yrs old.

I hope to find some help here

Hi Aardwolf

There will be plenty of people here with more knowledge and experience then I. Welcome to SR. I just missed you in chat.

Cheers

AA has online meetings and some other sites also have online AA meetings.

Rational Recovery
AVRT
SMART
Life Ring
Power to Quit
SOS
Women for Sobriety

ALL have their own website.

Pair one of those with this Sober Recovery site and you have an awesome chance of staying stopped!!!

Glad you found us!

Hello Aardwolf:

I bet if you looked around your area that you might find a couple of other folks who need help and start a meeting close to home.

All you need is a desire and a coffee pot. :c033:

If you meet my friend Don T in Scottsburg at The Cedars south of Durban please say "Hello" to him for me.

All the best.

Bob R

Hi all, thanks for making me feel welcome, do I have to start a new thread or can I ask questions from here.

Dee74 04-01-2013 01:42 PM

You can do either Aardwolf - whatever you prefer....no problem :)

Thanks Dee,

I am not sure where to start my wife started drinking more and more about 8 years ago and things have just deteriorated. I support the family and she does the drinking. I tend to shun social occasions because of her embarrassing me and the kids. Her friends just get fewer and fewer. She went to rehabilitation once but it didn't work, she doesn't think she has a problem. If I divorce / leave her she wouldn't have anywhere to go to. Do I just ignore her drinking or do I confront her every time she drinks?

Hi Bob R,

Thanks for your response, I will think about. Regarding your friend Don T - chances are slim that I would meet your buddy from Durban south as there are 50 million of us in this country. :)
