Hello

I'm just saying hello - been sober for 1 month after drinking destructively for years. I still feel sick and wiped out but I am determined to get there. I went out for a walk earlier and was totally out of breath after a mile up hill which is worrying. I'm trying to find out whether this is from withdrawls or something else.

Anyway hi and

P-I-P

Hi Pastipast. I think the body takes a little while to get back to healthy levels as its been saturated with poison for a long time. Keep walking and not drinking and you will see improvement. Congrats on 1 month, that is awesome!!!

Hello, and welcome!

I drank destructively for thirty years, so I'm glad you made the decision now instead of wating until you've lost everything to alcohol.

You'll find lots of support here, and congratulations on one month.

Withdrawal does not persist that long. I'd see a doctor to be sure.

As Least said, alcohol withdrawal does not last for a month, so best to talk to your dr.

I'm not unfit and I think I'd be out of breath after a mile uphill. Well done you!

Thanks for the kindness I wouldn't have been out of breath last month well not falling down tired but since i quit drinking I seem to be losing power. The first week after I quit I walked 8 miles but now 20mins walk and I'm exhausted. I'm wondering whether some other medical condition has surfaced that I was treating with alcohol.
I will go to the doctors after Easter and cherish my sobriety in the meantime and i look forward to meeting your acquaintance's and I thank you once again for your wisdom and support

Great job on your 1 month sober, Past. Glad you plan to get checked out. It took me awhile to feel human again, but it's best to be sure.
