what will it take for me
what will it take for me
Hi,
I have been here reading every ight while i have a couple of beers. It is like I am leading a double life. One of which knows I need to do somehting about my dronking and drugging, and one of which doesnt care. I guess i care enough to be here, but not enough to do anything about it. I know i need to do something before it is too late.

Hi want2bclean,
Welcome to Soberrecovery. You've taken a good first step by coming here. There are many times I "wanted" to stop but I couldn't. That's when I realized there was a problem. Of course I didn't stop then either but it is possible by asking for help. Take a look around the forums and post where you feel comfortable.

Re: what will it take for me
Seems you are already doing something about it.
"I guess i care enough to be here, but not enough to do anything about it."
You are doing just by your asking and guess what.... You are worth it.
Glad to see you here.
Realizing there is a problem and you need do something about it.
Looking for answers/help
and now a commitment of doing something about it because you are worth it.
I think you do care enough because you are doing someting about it.
You will find much help here as needed. Ask and it is there for you.
Welcome aboard.

Hi Want2Be
I know that feeling all too well. It was like Jekyll & Hyde for me. I would go and get drunk to shut up the good side of me that was saying
"There's something wrong Jimbo".
Keep posting and reading - and as the others say, you'll make a good decision when you're ready.
Much love
JC

Re: what will it take for me
I completely, completely, completely understand where you are coming from. It's like me going to Church and being drunk at the same time. A double standard right. It's an addiction and I'm just now learning that. It's something that you can control but at a deeper level it is something that you need to resolve within your 'self'...within your 'soul'.
I tell myself everyday, and have for the past few years.... "I need to stop drinking" and then take a drink from the bottle. It's only within a community such as this one that we can read posts and find ourselves. We all love one another b/c we know what the other has gone through. Talk to me anytime....I'm trying to recover and decided to do so only a few days ago and you're talking to someone that would go to the gym drunk, run three miles, and lift weights.
Best wishes and hope to hear from you soon...

Re: what will it take for me
Hi want2bclean!
Hang in there. Youre already at step 1-You admit you have a problem. That one took me a loooooong time. Then even when I admitted that to myself it took just as long to do something about it. You will do what you need to do when you are ready--that is the truth. Until you are ready you cant help yourself.
Hang in there!!!
Keep coming and posting--lots of support here!!!

Hi want2bclean.. I am a 28 year old alcoholic... Welcome to the forum.
Like mentioned above, it takes courage to admit you have a problem.. I commend you for doing so...
This board is great for support, so stick around... Like you, I finally (openly) adimitted to having a serious drinking problem 3 weeks ago and have been sober since then... I can tell you, that I have NEVER felt better !! It can be done...
Keep on posting.
