Talking Loser alcoholic :)

In an act of desperation I typed "loser alcoholic" in Google last April. SR was at the top of the list. Through my tears I read. Sitting in my car at lunch. Trying to let my woozyness pass.

SR.... A magical place of locals from around the world. A common vision on addiction. A broad spectrum of sanity. A wild intent on life.

I am much more mature today. Nearly a year after joining. Because I listened. Watched people rise and fall. Some stayed the same. I have had more sober days in the last year than in the previous 12 combined.

I guess what I am trying to say is a simple thanks. A year. 2K posts. Many friends made. Many lessons learned. Much shame shed. Self respect regained. Hope in my heart once again.

Who could ask for more?

Me.... Everyday. I want to continue. Excited about life again. But cautious to stay steady.

K

Ken,i think we first started conversing during Hurricane Sandy....you were famous to me you live near Theresa Caputo...although i doubt her manicurist's skills...they scream staten island.
I enjoy reading your posts and can see your growth too.
i'm glad you chose to recover from your situation and know that you give hope and humor to this site...along with great examples....and recipes.
You are a mainstay.

Fandy! Thank you so much. You made my day already and it's early.

I love talking with you. You give me good advice. Helped me through "that" moment. I have a ways to go that will be big in my life. I will be right here to get through it. Glad you are here with me.

Thank you Weasel!!

I did the same thing last week... googled something about recovery and this site was one of the first things that popped up.

I clicked, I read, I related, I cried......... I moved over a hump.... and now I never want to go back.

Thank you everybody!!!!!!!!!

Weasel your posts have helped me enormously but we've never chatted as I never felt I could qualified to offer anything of any help over your last situation. I read with awe how you dealt with that and I took lots of strength from your open honesty.

You rock

Sazzle.... That is very nice to say. Thank you.

I have seen you around a lot. Always say hello!

I am still working through that. There is a lot to do yet to get where I need to be. It's a slow process to deal with it.but I am. Hopeful for my future. Only I can make things better for me huh?

Cool post - thanks for sharing your reflection. Very interesting to look back, isn't it? Often times it's hard to see or notice progress on a daily basis. Getting back to reality has felt slow and sticky for me. But as you showed in your post, if you step back and admire the body of work, it's a masterpiece in the making! Bottom line is you are better for being sober today, you clearly get that. Glad SR has been helpful.

I think it goes without saying that this is an undertaking with regard to making real change happen. It has been a struggle for me. lots of ups and lots of downs.
