This time two weeks ago.....

This time two weeks ago I was a wee bit hungover as I'd drunk my usual bottle of wine the night before. I don't recall how I spent the day but I do know that the weather was awful and the children and I probably just messed around in the house all day. At that point I was still consciously thinking about how much I was drinking.

Did I drink too much?
I eat well and exercise so it's not like I'm totally lost......surely I don't have a problem with alcohol? All of my friends drink too.....do they drink as much as me? As often as me? I dunno, I'm not with them all of the time......
Is seven bottles of wine in a week a lot? Should I stop? Should I?

And so on....round and round the thoughts would go. I'd previously Googled the words, "Do I drink too much?" and had previously only found wishy washy websites, all very well-meaning I should add, who stated that "only you know if you drink too much" (sorry, I can't quite get a handle on that bit, that's why I'm asking.....) I'd even bought How to Control Your Drinking, the Easyway at the end of January and recognised myself in the book and had given up drinking for 4 nights but then fell at the first Friday night hurdle (the 4 day *yeah, I don't have a problem!* run in with the AV).

Anyway, back to two weeks ago. Come Saturday night I drank a bottle and a half and woke up the next day feeling **** and to top it off it was Mother's Day and I was capable of doing nothing with the kids. I don't recall what I Googled but I know I found this forum. And I've been here ever since.

I know it's only (almost) two weeks since I stopped drinking but I wanted to say thank you. Thank you for the kindness, the candour, the support, the ideas and most of all the opportunity to change my behaviour using tools that have been tried and tested. Thank you all.

Well done Misspond. 2 weeks is great. I had (have!) a wine addiction too. This is only my 4th day of stopping again. I stopped for a few months last year and remember the first 2 weeks were the hardest, and after that it started feeling really good to be fresh in the morning and not hungover all day.
