Tough Night
Tough Night
Night number two is proving to be really tough. The stomach cramps and cravings are super strong. My kids are in bed and I have another hour before my wife gets home. My mind keeps telling me that a shot will make these awful cramps go away. I'm gonna stay strong but, man, this is tough.
Thanks for letting me vent!

The first few days are definitely not easy but you can do it. Each day only gets better. Good for you for posting here rather than drinking. If you have alcohol in the house maybe consider asking someone to dump it?
Drums the alcohol. And make something to eat. Sometimes my stomach hurts but food does help and water. At least your honest and stay strong and write a quick note to let your wife know you did not drink. Good luck
Thanks for the help last night, y'all. I was in a tough spot and just needed to let someone else know. After my wife got home I was able to talk through it and the cravings slowly subsided (not the stomach issues though). I actually got a few hours of quality sleep and I feel much better this morning.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
The first week or so can indeed be rough. It takes time to heal and get back to normal functioning. Treat yourself well. Good food, rest, and moderate exercise. Trust me, it will get better.

Your body is healing itself, you will notice some things. Your sleep will return to normal as your brain adjusts itself. Try not to get discouraged if your sleep is limited. A few hours of "quality sleep" are much better than 7 hours of drunk sleep!
The only stomach issues I had was more "gurgling", something to do without booze? But if it does persist, go see your DR just to be safe!!
You may also notice some other things too, but don't fret too much. Everyone is different and the withdrawal effects vary. But if you get concerned about something always, always make sure to see your DR and tell him/her that you are coming off of booze.
Keep up the great work! You are doing awesome!!!
Thanks for all of the support!
It’s going surprisingly well, Duane. Tuesday and Wednesday were really hard with the cravings and shakes getting pretty severe. I felt good enough last night to run on the treadmill after my kids went to sleep and felt great afterwards. By the time I was showered and cleaned up, my wife(my rock!) got home so we talked for a bit and then hit the sack. I slept better than I had the previous two nights and was able to wake up early to go to the gym and lift before work this morning. I haven’t ran in over three years and have been away from the gym for about a year so this was a pretty big deal.
I am a little nervous about tonight since this was my “bottle and a case” night but I’m planning on having pizza with my kids, watching a family movie, putting them to bed and then running again. Hopefully by changing my nightly routine to include running, it will reduce the amount of cravings. If it does get bad again, you best believe you’ll be seeing me here later!
