new and confused
Hello all,
This site is a little confusing. Trying to navigate here and learn something. I want to stop drinking. I can string a few weeks together but always go back..I dont want to continue this cycle or it has the potential to be my demise.

sorry you find us confusing Dottie - you'll get used to us, & you've found a good place to start
have you tried any kind of support in the past - AA or some other group, seeing your Dr or a counsellor, rehab - anything like that, or is this your first time trying to stop?

Welcome DottieBelle! You did just fine - posting in Newcomers is a good place to introduce yourself.
I know what you mean - I tried to control it, but I always went back too. Later in life, I found myself completely dependent on it. I'm glad you're taking a hard look at what alcohol is doing to you. You'll find a lot of support and hope here. We're glad to have you with us.

I'm new too and using an iPhone to get around the site. I've just been clicking on things and reading what comes up but I'm posting on the newcomers forum.
And beginning to open up after reading other post. Glad you're here.

Hey, I'm new to this as well! 64 hours without an oxy!
Hey Everyone.
Just looking for some positive support. I'm almost to my 72 hour mark of not taking any pain medication. Feeling pretty down right now.

Welcome to the site. I am new in recovery 'again'. Like you, fed up with the cycle and the misery. I've spent the day looking around and reading and there is so much great information here. It's especially nice as I am not in my country of birth and know very few people here. Certainly no one in recovery, so it's great to make a connection with like minded people. I'm glad you're here as well.
Welcome ANewme. Great job on getting your life back. Once you get through this rough time you'll be free - and you never have to go there again. We are here to encourage and support you - this is a great place where everyone understands.

Thank you, Hevyn! It's been a struggle that's for sure. I almost gave in today. I called my finance and started crying, made me feel better, and then registered to this site. I'm getting close to my 72 hours... Anyone know how much longer of this terrible stuff?
Thanks all for the welcome. I am trying to navigate. I will get used to it.
Someone asked if this is my fist time and I sure wish I could say yes but NO. I belong to several on line groups. Cant have too much support..

Glad you found SR!
I couldn't even find the chat room when I was drinking and I lurked here for 8 years. I returned at 2 months sober and still didn't find that chat room for about a month.
Staying stopped can be done and you are worth it!!!!!
