Ufc night.

I used to love getting drunk and watching ufc. It's a big change watching it sober. I also have a hard time dealing with other people being drunk around me. I can't stand the smell, the behavior, the noise. I know tonight will be a challenge but it's something I need to do. I think I have to start getting used to the fact that that I don't drink anymore but that doesn't mean the people around me are always going to be sober.

I think about drinking and remember what fun I had and how relapse Is normal in recovery and I almost allow myself to think it's okay to have that one drink. Alcohol plays so many tricks on me even when I don't drink it anymore. I guess that demon will always be lurking in the back ground wanting to make a come back. I have all these mixed feelings about tonight. I should stay home but I'm tired of isolating myself.so tonight I am going out to watch the fights and I am not going to drink any alcohol and I'm going to have fun. Time to break the cycle :)

Good luck. That is going to be tough. I am only 7 days sober and I know I would not make it if I was going where all my friends would be drinking.

Stash 03-16-2013 04:59 PM

At 7 days I didn't even talk to my friends. I'm growing more confident with myself now and you will also. Just give it time ... Life has just started. <3

I've learned to watch football and hockey without drinking. It sucked, was hard, but doable! I think the commercials do a number on the mind convincing me that I should be drinking when I watch any sport! I've never been a very good rule follower so I think I will work hard to break that rule!

I hope so. I just am a little depressed that everything that i used to enjoy involved drinking or drinking afterward. Like playing golf, cards, throwing darts etc...

My buddy is in the main event tonight. Have to watch it alone too cause I'm not part of the drinking crowd anymore. We will both survive!

I'm watching it now but with a bunch of other sober peeps. Actually having a good time :) hope you are too!

I had a great time. Went to the casino to watch the fights. I didn't mind it and I even went to an after party and danced with my friends. I wasn't able to do that last month. This group gives me a lot of strength I love it here.

Dana White announced that St Pierre's next match will be vs. Hendricks. I'm more excited for that matchup than I have been for a St Pierre fight in a very long time.

Stash 03-17-2013 02:07 AM

Avocado When did he announce that? I didn't hear it and I haven't been on twitter. Lol I can't wait for that fight. Diaz was annoying tn. I hated how he was throwing punches after the bell. Gsp held him like a new born baby tho so I can understand diaz's frustration.

avocado 03-17-2013 02:30 AM

dana white said it in a press conference post-fight.

the thing that annoyed me most about diaz was he seemed to be implying that GSP had spies when he was saying after the fight 'it's funny how he knew what moves i was doing. i find that kind of funny.' No, it's probably because GSP watched tons of tapes of your previous fights and knows your style. Diaz did nothing to even try to win that fight. After the first two rounds he at least managed to stay on his feet but he just danced around and I barely saw him try anything substantial. You're not gonna beat GSP just dancing around and throwing weak punches that rarely and barely hit. Of course, I have to give him props for at least struggling to stay in the fight after those first two rounds.

Diaz went in there thinking he would get lucky with a knock out punch. He needed more training in he's ground game that's for sure. He was barley able to Transition. I hate how he is mad at Gsp for having good trainers. I really didn't enjoy the pity party. Did you watch the press conference the other night? Diaz actually showed up my boyfriend couldn't stop teasing about Diaz and his " wolf tickets" .

avocado 03-17-2013 09:55 AM

I missed the press conference. I saw some clips though and Diaz was annoying. I wanted to like him just because he plays the deftones as entrance music and i like that band, unlike pretty much every other UFC fighter's entrance music. Speaking of which, Ricci coming out to Phil Collins, LOL. I like Phil Collins, but "Something in the Air" is not exactly good entrance music.
