You asked about what "AV" meant, as well. It's an abbreviation for "Alcoholic Voice" or "Addiction Voice"...... it's the mental thoughts that keep drawing us back into our addiction. It's like we have 2 personalities in a way: the real us, and the addict. (Google AVRT - it has some great stuff on recognizing and dealing with that addictive side).
Speaking of having a "reason to stop" and/or caring about yourself and your life, what I found is that a lot of that came after I got sober and started thinking clearly again. (I'm an artist, too, and it's tough, but even your work will get better once you get clean - promise!).
