One week is awesome! Welcome.

My eating habits changed after I quit drinking. I had no appetite for the crap I was used to eating.

I used to eat healthy right before I would gulp down a 12 pack.
The first 2 days I couldn't stop eating. Then slowly no desire to eat anything.
I've lost 3 pounds this week.

7wishes,

Me neither.

But I kind of expected this and know that not eating is a bad thing for me. In the past, I would get hungry and not recognize that's what it was, and would wind up drinking instead. I think one of my rationalizations was "I will be hungry once I get some booze in me." Uck.

This time around, I have decided to start my day every day with a complex carb + protein (usually turkey sausage on a bagel or muffin). Breakfast comes a few hours after I wake and holds me well into the afternoon and seems to somehow help me overcome the small urges that come at me during that time of day.

Not sure if that helps any, but figured I'd share what seems to be helping me to start down a healthier path in case it might give you some ideas.

Good on you (us!) for seven days.

Welcome 7wishes

whenever I had no appetite I'd try to eat something - soups were good - I also liked canned green beans - they went down pretty easy, but I realise that's not to everyones taste.

I hope you'll find like I did that your appetite returns

You have a great deal of insight and experience to share Dee. However I hope you'll pardon me for saying that's not one of your better suggestions)

Great job on 7 days, 7wishes! We're glad you joined us - this is a wonderful place to be.

I had a problem with my appetite too for about 2 wks. Then I craved sweets. Finally, a normal appetite returned.

Congratulations for working hard to kick that stuff out of your life. You'll feel a bit better each day.
