Movie: "Smashed" Really Worth a Watch

This is a new movie that just came out on demand. It was only in select theaters in nyc so I think it was independent, but it was SO good and a great portrayal of alcoholism, coming to acceptance, and the 12 steps. Here's the trailer. Anyone else see it?

Thanks for this Janie, been reading some reviews. Empire seemed to think it was pretty good.

Will give this a watch tomorrow night Flight has set a high standard lately but the trailer looks pretty good

I saw the trailer months ago and have been looking for it in theaters ever since. I believe it was a Sundance Film ( I might be wrong on that). It was recently shown at the New Orleans Film Festival and I just missed it Thanks so much for letting us know its out on Demand janiebluebird! I will check it out.

And avocado, I ditto your sentiments.

I saw the movie and I concur, definitely worth watching. It is also very funny in a bitter sweet kind of way.

Bet you wouldn't have hesitated to spend $5 on booze. Don't mean it as a dig , just such a reality for most of us

I watched the trailer - looked powerful, totally worth checking it out....alas I also read the YouTube comments below on the message board. Ugh.

Thanks though, I really liked "Flight" and I hope I like this one too.

lol, absolutely. my hesitation is that it's 5 bucks when i know i can get it for only 1.25 at redbox tomorrow or sometime soon, and i have netflix with a 200+ long queue of movies I can watch for free that i haven't seen yet. but yeah, i'd have easily spent that 5 on my first long island and 50 bucks (as long as I didn't get into anything beyond the booze) and 10 hours later I'd wake up regretting it.

yeah, I download music and tv shows for free but I prefer to just get blu-rays or DVDs for films for no real reason.

Probably a good idea, it's the right thing to do I suppose. I watch most movies on my laptop anyway, so downloading a low-res version is quick, cost-effective and works for me!

Always fun talking about the little things, ain't it? Have a good night guys.

I thought it was better than flight, I felt I could relate A LOT to it. This is *not* a giveaway to anyone who hasn't seen it yet, the part in the beginning-ish where her husband says she just made a bad decision one night smoking crack (shown in the trailer) and she says something along the lines that alcohol seems to lead to all her bad decisions. I was just sitting there thinking... "yuup". Other things too that I don't want to spoil for anyone who hasn't seen the movie yet.

yeah, as someone who occasionally made the 'bad decision' to smoke crack after drinking, I could relate to that part of the trailer and it made me want to see it even more. I suspect I'll like it better than "Flight" which I thought was good but pretty outlandish

I just watched it last night! I thought it was good. One part actually made me uncomfortable but overall I'm glad I watched it. It made me feel far from where I've been (9 months sober), but reminded me how easy it would be to fall back and how horrible and sad that would be.

Agreed. But isn't funny how some of us (me) have become a total cheapster?? I think it's because I saw all of the money I was wasting, and now I'm into saving it.

I saw this movie listed in Redbox. I was curious and now I'm ready to see it! Thanks OP for bringing it to my attention!
